Sculpture Purchase

Firedancer

Brendan O’Shaughnessy recently purchased Edition 2 of Firedancer for his wife.  His comments reflect what motivated him to acquire the sculpture.  Following his words, his wife adds what it meant for her to receive this work of art as a gift from her husband.

“We are enjoying the Bronze Firedancer that you so kindly delivered the other day. It is absolutely beautiful and we are thrilled beyond words. It is a birthday gift for my wife and I know she will cherish it every day in our living room. The very fine lines and curves are so very real and perfect.

Thank you for inviting us to your showing and introducing us to your wonderful art. Josephine is already looking forward to another great purchase in the future.”

Brendan O’Shaughnessy, Edmonds, WA.

“I am “over the moon” with such a stunning work of art and I thank you so very much. Firedancer is just so soothing to rest your eyes on and I know I will forever love this beautiful piece. You are a phenomenal artist.”

UNCLAD 2011

Don’t miss the upcoming “UNCLAD – The Fine Art of the Figure”, which is an annual exhibit celebrating the nude figure in art. This highly anticipated annual event draws thousands of visitors together each year for an experience that is unexpected, somewhat provocative, and highly engaging. The intrinsic nature of the subject has motivated artists to explore and push their boundaries, producing a show that inspires, opens minds, starts discussions, stirs emotions, and touches lives.  UNCLAD 2011 features artwork by more than 90 artists from across North America! You’ll find a variety of styles and mediums … from paintings and drawings to photography, sculpture, and glass. I’m happy to report that four of my figurative sculptures were juried into the show!

UNCLAD runs from March 12-27th at Gallery by the Bay in Stanwood, WA.  A not to miss event is the Opening Day Ceremony on Saturday, March 12th 11 am – 8 pm.

Shown here are my sculptures that will be exhibited there.

Sculpture purchase

Nancy Mitrano, a local physical therapist and owner of Impact Physical Therapy recently purchased Edition 1 of Serenity.   Her comments provide insight into what inspired her to want to have the sculpture in her home.

“I have made my career studying the intricate attachment of every muscle in the body. I have trained my eye to observe one’s compensations, one’s innate rhythm, and the ability to assess and analyze in order for function to take place.

Because of my background, I have always been drawn to sculpture. I have admired David Varnau’s work for some time.    He seems to have not only captured anatomy, but has also combined this with his personal inner path.

It is with great honor that I now possess one of David’s art pieces.

She sits at the top of my stairs to remind me that we each have a story. We each have a path. We call this Art. We call this fine sculpture.

In my mind………

She represents the ability to observe one’s inner self from the outside.

I sincerely hope that you can enjoy David’s ability to meld form and life as though we are all on display.”

Guest Artist Show at Parklane Gallery in Kirkland

I’m really pleased to be Guest Artist at Parklane Gallery in Kirkland. The show is my first foray into exhibiting my art on Seattle’s Eastside, which opens up an awareness of my work to an entirely new audience. I believe that art lovers in Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond and Issaquah will find the show to be evocative. But  we also welcome those of you from Seattle side as well as from the north and south ends since Parklane Gallery is a great venue for 3-D art. The gallery is spacious, well lit and offers a different ambience than many galleries that feel cramped for space. As a result, I am thrilled with the fact that visitors can view most of my sculptures there from many perspectives and appreciate them more fully. It easily and tastefully displays fully fourteen of my bronzes and my recently completed first cast leaded glass sculpture. There are many wonderful 2-D works by their member artists for you to enjoy as well. Visit the gallery’s website, www.parklanegallery.com, for updated information about their other artists and works currently exhibited.
